Some of the most interesting scenery in
this vast Caribbean island is west of
Puerto Plata. A pleasant way to see a
a part of it is to drive to Luperon about
an hour from Villa Cafemba, through the
picturesque countryside and villages on
your way to a final destination -- the
place where Columbus landed and built
the first settlement in the New World.
Savor the historic moment, plan some
time on the beach and later perhaps a
look at the small boats at anchor in the
Luperon marina to finish the adventure.

In the other direction, a 15 minute drive
and half way to Sosua is Playa Dorada,
the hotel complex with casinos, discos,
plaza center and Robert Trent Jones

Golf course. In Sosua the popular horse

Shoe beach provides snorkeling, scuba

Diving & other water sports. In

Cabarete, 15 minutes further east, wind

surfing is the big attraction. Enjoy

a drink or lunch at the beach while

watching the surfers’  antics and their

colorful sails aimlessly cavorting.

Should a round of golf at the

spectacular Playa Grande course be

your focus, the delightful ocean for

others in your group. The Playa Grande

trip takes you through Rio San Juan, a

90 minute ocean drive from Villa

Cafemba.

Go from the airport complex to main road:
turn right and drive through countryside about 15 miles. There are several curves but keep straight till you come to the big traffic circle as you enter Puerto Plata. Turn left around circle go about a block go to your right then straight again will take you west on Circunvalancion Blvd. all of the way through and past Puerto Plata city about a mile past the city limits to the Costambar entry road right side opposite an Industrial Park. Wind around this little Costambar road to the gate.

Costambar,” is where Villa Cafemba is located, After entering the gate, the first road to the right (Gurabito) intersects with Guayacanes up and around a steep hill to your right keep straight on Guayacanes till you go down the long hill road. Villa Cafemba is at the curve on your left.. You’ll see the big Satellite Dish. If you get lost, ask: Donde esta Costambar, most everyone knows.

From Costambar to visit Puerto Plata Sites:
Go back to main highwy then straight to Circle where you’ll see a lot of flags. Go left around Circle then straight on Separación. Continue to the town square and beyond to the ocean. Then drive along beach front for a mile or two. A visit to this bustling historic seaport city offers you a memorable vacation experience.
